Buying a template is a one-time decision that affects how your site looks and how much work you'll do later. Here's what actually matters when you're choosing one.
1. Does the design fit your niche?
A generic template still looks generic after you fill it in. A niche-specific template already has the right sections — a menu for a restaurant, services for a salon, listings for real estate. It saves you the most time.
2. Is it responsive out of the box?
More than half your visitors are on mobile. The template must adapt cleanly to phones and tablets without extra work. Check the demo on a narrow screen.
3. Do you get the source?
Compiled CSS is enough to launch, but SCSS source lets you change the entire color scheme with a single variable. If you'll ever rebrand, you want the source.
4. What's the license?
Make sure the license covers client work if you're a freelancer or agency, and check whether it's one-time or per-project. A commercial license for unlimited projects is the most flexible.
5. Is there a real demo?
Never buy a template you can't click through. A live demo shows you the actual pages, responsiveness, and components — not just a hero screenshot.
6. Are updates included?
Frameworks and browsers move. Free updates mean the template keeps working as Bootstrap and browsers evolve.
